VQL Data – Privacy Notice

Introduction: This Privacy Notice describes how VQL Data (“VQL”, “we”, “us”, “our”) “processes” your personal information. “Processing” is any operation performed on personal information, including collection, use, and sharing with third parties. Personal information is any information that does, or could, identify you.

This Notice applies to the personal information collected from VQL “panelists”, who are consumers who have agreed to share information with us about their purchases from certain businesses.

VQL is the “controller” of the personal information that we collect from panelists.

Personal Information Collected: We collect personal information only directly from you. We do not collect information about you from other sources. You will know the details of the information that you provide to us, but it will typically include your e-mail address and any personal information contained in the purchase receipts you share with us (for example, your name, when and where you shopped, and what you bought).

As defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, we collect the following categories of personal information: identifiers, commercial information, internet activity.

Use of the Personal Information: We use your personal information only to communicate with you and to create a purchasing index for the businesses where you have shopped. This index is an aggregate value and contains none of your personal information. VQL sells the index to businesses interested in retail purchasing trends.

EU GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR) LAWFULNESS OF PROCESSING: The GDPR requires that we provide individuals in the European Union, European Economic Area, and UK with our legal basis for processing their personal data. Our legal basis is your consent, demonstrated by your affirmative act of sending your purchase receipts to us.

Sharing of the Personal Information: Your information may be disclosed to VQL personnel and service providers (for example, our Cloud backup provider). Our service providers process your information on our behalf and according to our instructions and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.

We will also disclose your personal information to government agencies, law enforcement, courts, and other authorities if required by law.

VQL will never sell your personal information.

Retention of the Personal Information: We will retain your information until you have been inactive as a panelist for one year and will then delete it. You may request deletion of your information outside of our normal data retention schedule (see Your Rights below).

International Transfer: VQL Data is a United States company and the personal information you send us will be stored on our systems in the US. US privacy laws may be very different from those of your country. If you live in the European Union or European Economic Area, note that the European Commission has not issued an adequacy decision for the US. If you are concerned about your privacy rights in the US, you should not send us your information.

Your Rights:

US and international laws give you various rights over your personal information. You may at any time request:

 • Access to the information that we hold about you

• Correction of inaccuracies in the information

• That we cease to process the information

• That we delete the information

• Information about data portability

Requests to exercise privacy rights should be addressed to us using the contact information in the section below.

If you believe that we have infringed your privacy rights, please contact us so that we can resolve the issue. However, if you are an EU/EEA/UK resident, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your EU/ EEA local supervisory authority or, in the UK, with the ICO.
